About HoloHolo ReviewThis is a featured page

So, what does Holoholo mean?

According to the Ulukau Hawaiian Electronic Dictionary, Holoholo means "to go for a walk, ride, or sail; to go out for pleasure, stroll, promenade." We hope that the Holoholo Review will take you on interesting excursions to discover materials on the Pacific.

Our Origins

The Holoholo Review began as a pilot project of Dr. Andrew Wertheimer and his University of Hawaii Collection Management Course to provide free reviews of books, magazines, journals, databases, videos, and other library materials relating to Hawaii and the Pacific (including Pacific Islands, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Coast of North, South and Central America). Reviews are written by LIS students at the University of Hawaii, but are also welcome from other LIS students and librarians. The ALA Student Chapter at the University of Hawaii at Manoa added it to their service functions.

Looking Ahead

In the future we hope to be able to offer informal notes and peer-reviewed research related to libraries, information, reading, and publishing in the Pacific. We encourage you to join us as a reviewer. Please check out links for reviewers and publishers to the left.

Special Thanks
Mahalo to all of my LIS students for patience on uploading this site. Thanks also to the publishers which supplied free copies of some of your books. Thanks also to Mona Kwon and Mystil LePage for technical assistance with an earlier version. Thanks also to Moses Gonsalves for the photograph and icon.
