Information for Publishers
The HoloHolo Review was founded by faculty and students at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Library & Information Science Program who were concerned that many books published in and about Hawaii and the Pacific were not being reviewed. Reviews are important tools for librarians to learn about and evaluate materials for purchase.
You can help us promote your books by sending one complimentary review copy (or galley copy) of any of your books in print to the editor of the Holoholo Review, Andrew Wertheimer, Library & Information Science Program, POST Building, University of Hawaii at Manoa, 1680 East-West Road, Honolulu, HI 96822, USA.
HR encourages you to also send additional information to accompany the book, such as copies of other published reviews, copies of the author's resume, and updated price and ordering information. Unlike most review journals, HR also reviews out of print classics and older texts that still in print, so we welcome you to send us titles from your backlist. HR reviews are written by LIS students and librarians. We do not promise a complimentary review as we think that part of HR's role is promoting a critical approach to materials. We value books that are:
- In general: Well-written and edited; culturally sensitive; Well-illustrated and visually appealing; Well-bound; Using acid-free papers
- For Nonfiction:Balanced (or clearly opinionated); Well-researched (with good clear citations); Well indexed.
- For Electronic Resources:Informative; Affordable/ free; Good search engines; Non-commercial, etc.
HR is interested in promoting publishing and micropublishing in the Pacific. We truly appreciate your help in making this a valuable resource.
